Sienna Associations Take Home Trophies

January 26, 2024

Sienna Associations, our community’s HOAs, were recently honored with two awards by the Greater Houston Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI), taking home the 2024 Community Association Volunteer of the Year and Community of the Year (for communities over 3,000 homes) trophies.

Teri Clayton — a 19-year Sienna resident — received the Volunteer of the Year award. Teri started volunteering soon after moving to Sienna as a Village Representative, a position she’s held for 18 years. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Sienna Community Services Foundation (SCSF). She was one of 11 nominees from the Greater Houston area.

Describing herself as a “professional volunteer,” Teri has been instrumental in connecting our residents with both Sienna Associations’ staff and each other.

“People have gotten to know me well,” she said. “Sometimes they just knock on my door if they have a question or concern.”

A communication tool she uses frequently is Sienna Neighbors, an unofficial Facebook group that serves as a town hall for residents. Teri created the group in 2015.

She was excited to win the award because she felt she represented Sienna — a community she loves — well.

“This was a win for all of us,” she said. “It is a team effort. We’re trying to make Sienna the best community we can.”

This is the third win as Community of the Year for the Sienna Associations after earning the title in 2016 and 2020. To be considered for the award, a community must exhibit excellence over the course of the past year in the areas of management, governance, finance, and lifestyle opportunities.

The Sienna Associations team is onsite, which allows for a more collaborative relationship between staff and residents. The Associations’ primary responsibilities include protecting and enhancing property values, maintaining common areas, enforcing deed restrictions, and providing lifestyle opportunities.

“I’m very proud that we received this award, and it is because of the incredible management team, board of directors, volunteers and all of our residents,” said Sandy Denton, General Manager of Sienna Associations. “Together we make Sienna great!”
