Never met a dog you didn’t like? Well now you can “paw-ty” with your dog, your neighbors’ dogs, dogs you’ve just met — basically all the dogs — at our annual Canine Carnival and Doggone Fun Run and Walk 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 14.
Dog “maws and paws” can team up with their pups for a joint 5K run (leashes required) or go it alone while their “pup-a-razzi” cheers them on. A 1-mile walk/run is available for hounds and humans wanting to save up their energy for the Canine Carnival that follows. Be at the starting line at 7 a.m. at the Sawmill Lake model home park, 9815 Cameron Way.
At 9 a.m. we will unveil Sienna Plantation’s new dog-themed art installation, titled “Sienna Plantation Kennel Collection.” Then it’s time to “raise the woof” with carnival rides, high-flying performances by the Houston Disc Dogs, a DJ, games, inflatables, human and dog face painting, pet adoptions, pet vendors and more.
A highlight will be the costume contest, where well-heeled dogs can strut their stuff. Pup parents must register their canine friends by April 11. Be warned — the competition is “ruff.”
In addition, children will enjoy activities courtesy of the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center and an opportunity to meet Sugar Land Skeeters mascot Swatson. A Temple of Doom obstacle course for older children, a merry-go-round, four-sided rock wall, Dixie Twister swing ride, sports games, a fun house and a balloon artist round out the activities.
Hungry owners can purchase food and treats from a variety of food trucks including Curbside Sliderz, YoYo's Hot Dogs, Wylie Street Taco's, Southern Ice Cream, Cupcake and a Smile, Ice Tea Spot and Kona Ice.
New this year will be a Best of Living Tent where prospective homebuyers will be able to meet with award-winning builders in Sienna Plantation to see the spectrum of floor plans, architectural styles, incentives and upgrades available. Guests also will be able to tour the community’s 25 model homes.
It’s going to be a “barkling” good time for everyone! For more information and to register for activities, click here.
