Kandy Bond to Lead Sienna Crossing Elementary
As Jeanne Sniffin takes over the helm of Thornton Middle School, opening in Sienna Plantation next year, Principal Kandy Bond is stepping in to lead award-winning Sienna Crossing Elementary School.
Boasting more than 20 years of experience as an educator, Bond most recently served as principal at Reed Elementary in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. She has served as an assistant principal, a math specialist, an ELA instructional specialist and an elementary school teacher. She received a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University, a master’s in administration and supervision from the University of Houston and completed the REEP Program (Rice Educational Entrepreneurship Program) at Rice University.
Sienna Crossing scored an A+rating and ranked No. 92 out of Houston’s 878 elementaries on the 2017 Children at Risk report. Students learn in grade-specific pods with networked, multimedia computers in each classroom, computer labs, computerized library, a “post office,” performance stage and space devoted specifically to musical and artistic pursuits.
Thornton Middle School will be located on a 47-acre parcel within our community, adjacent to the new Donald Leonetti Elementary School, which opens this month. Leonetti Elementary and Scanlan Oaks Elementary will feed into the new middle school, which will house 1,200 students.
