I was excited to get to attend Back the Blue presented by Smart Financial in October. Back the Blue is a fundraiser to benefit Sugar Land Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. The SLCPAAA is a volunteer organization that funds crime prevention programs and also purchases much needed quipment. I was told that medical bags in Patrol cars were on the list of items planned for purchase after this event. The Co-Chairs of Back the Blue told me that their goal was to raise $100,00 so I was thrilled when they presented a check to Sugar Land Police Chief Robins for $125,000. The multi platinum 80's Rock band Loverboy was hired as the Entertainment for the night. It took place at Smart Financial Centre and law enforcement agengies from all over Fort Bend County attended and enjoyed the show. Prior to dinner in the lobby, we were able to interact with members of the Sugar Land Police Department and see hi-tech CSI investigative equipment & techniques up close. At the end of the night The Police Chief thanked the community for their support and said all officers want to know their community appreciates them and they feel very much appreciated when they go to work every day. It was a fun night for a good cause. A third Back the Blue is being planned for October of 2019.
